It's highly recommended to have a purpose for your RAID array before creating it. You should also make sure you do regular backups somewhere off-site, especially if you are considering RAID 0 for a performance boost.
Either way, I'm not sure how much of it you are going to get as RAID-ing a 7,200 RPM and a 5,400 RPM HDD would bottleneck the speed of the 7,200 RPM drive and limit it to the capabilities of the 5,400 RPM one. You can indeed create and build the array, but I'd personally advise you to use identical drives.
If your budget allows it, I'd also consider RAID/NAS-specific drives as they are specifically designed for such environments.
