Howdy!

So, i have an Optiplex 760, which i have grown really attached to over the years, however, as an oldie, it struggles modern games, and higher resolution video files. Now, the Dell BioS sadly makes it impossible to overclock the CPU, which, as far as i know could handle it. (I'm not sure about the fan though.)

Anyway, currently i'm hella low on money, and i don't have a long-lost nigerian prince cousin, but what i do have is a need for an actual GPUm that won't preferably get totally bottlenecked by my garbage CPU (details below). I was thinking of a GTX 750 Ti, but i think that could be an overkill, since it might take some time for me to be able to get a Core 2 Quad.

So i'd need a card that can run modern games on Low settings at a solid 25-30 FPS, which is preferably below or real close to $100, and that can fit inside the case.

It's a standard Dell Optiplex 760
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (3 GHz)
Current GPU: Intel Q45/43 Chipset

Thanks, Net

The best choices for the Optiplex, are the 790 and 990. I did an upgrade with a 790 using the i7-2600, while matching it with the GTX 1050 ti SSC, then the XFX RX 550. I found that the 1050 ti SSC was overkill, and felt that it was being bottle necked due to the native power supply, as well as the cpu. It seemed the better match was the XFX RX 550. Always keep in mind that the monitor also plays a role, whereas I used the BENQ 2670HS. I believe I have the most efficient gaming computer under $500, at 1080p.
