System won't post

Solution
Power down between each of the following steps.

Disconnect everything but the CPU and motherboard power and remove all expansion cards and memory. Be sure you have a speaker attached to the motherboard speaker connector. Power up and you should hear a sequence of beeps from the mobo. If you don't hear the beeps you've got a mobo problem. Make sure all of the mobo standoffs are in place and the mobo is tightly affixed to the standoffs and try again. If you still don't hear the beeps you have a mobo problem and will need to return it.

If you do hear beeps, look the sequence up in the manual or online. It will most probably be the no RAM beep sequence. Power down, install one stick of RAM and try again. If you still hear the same beeps...

When it didn't post the first time I removed things so only your CPU, RAM, 8 pin an 24 pin connectors are plugged in, along with the CPU fan and power button.

Components are asrock z170 pro4 MB, 8gb HyperX Ram, i3 6100, evga g2 650W PSU

If you do hear beeps, look the sequence up in the manual or online. It will most probably be the no RAM beep sequence. Power down, install one stick of RAM and try again. If you still hear the same beeps again try another stick of RAM. Repeat with each individual stick of RAM until you know which are good and which are bad.

With one stick of RAM installed, attach the monitor cable to the mobo display output connector if it has onboard video or install your graphics card if it does not. If you don't get a display ensure the monitor power is on and try again.

If you aren't getting a display of any kind you have a mobo problem if it is onboard video or a graphics card problem if not.

Once you get a display, power down and install all of the good RAM sticks and power back up. You should still be good. If not, remove RAM and add one back in and restart until it fails and then remove the last stick added.

Now install each expansion card and power up after installing each one. If the display fails again, the last expansion card you installed is bad. Set it aside and proceed with the rest of them.

At this point connect you storage media (SSD or HDD) and try again. You should be prompted for boot media.

Install the bootable OS installation media in the proper device (DVD or USB drive), power up again, and work through the install process.

Hey thanks, the MB didn't beep at all so I've sent it back, got refunded and ordered a new one. Gonna do all this with the new one and hope all goes well
