So i had this problem, and still have it, about how my newly built PC wont let me install drivers for my SSD (Samsung 850 EVO) . i posted this problem a not to long ago and i said it was solved because i thought the disk drive i got would work... it didn't. I'm installing windows 7 on a freshly built PC, no other OS is on it. i get to the bios and it recognizes the Disk drive and the SSD. I put the Disk Drive as the first boot and start downloading windows 7. it starts the process easily and asks me what language etc. now this is where i get to the problem, windows doesn't recognize the SSD. My bios is in AHCI mode, I have tried to download SATA drives to a USB but windows doesn't recognize that either. I've put it in every USB port there is. my screen is just stuck on the "select drivers to be installed". when i go to "browse" all it shows me is "Computer" and "Boot (X:)", no USB, no driver, nothing. i built this PC about three weeks ago and still haven't been able to figure out the problem. i feel like I'm the only one having this problem. I'm very frustrated. it would be mush appreciated if someone on here could solve this for me.

Thanks
Rudy

Have you tried installing Win 7 with only the SSD attached (disconnect the HDD)? If not, you should. Besides to properly install Win 7 and ensure all of the install files actually get written to the SSD, you should do this anyway. By default, regardless of where you tell Windows to install, some files will get written to the first HDD. Disconnecting the HDD during the install process prevents this from happening.

I don't have an HDD all I have is the 500gb SSD. This is why I am confused why it won't download to it.

When I press the button to turn on my PC, it goes right to the bios screen. In the bios it shows all the bootable devices, it shows "Samsung 850 EVO 500gb" "Lexar JD CLASSIC 1100" (USB device) and "HL-DT-STBD-RE" (disk drive)

I was going to post a photo but it didn't work I am positive it says AHCI mode is on. If it's somehow stuck on RAID mode is their another way to put it back to AHCI? Or is it just as simple as clicking a button to change between the two?

I've tried looking for an IDE mode but i cant seem to find it. I looked in the manual and haven't found anything about switching to IDE mode. all I have seen is the options to switch from RAID to AHCI mode. I did find this little passage in the manual that says "Boot Device Control (UEFI and Legacy OPROM) - allows you to select the type of devices that you want to boot up."
there is also another one similar to it below that states "Boot from Storage Devices (legacy OPROM first) Allows you to select the type pf storage devices that you want to launch. Configurations options: (both, legacy OPROM first) (both, UEFI first)"

Does that have anything to do with it?
I'm really thankful for your patience and help by the way, this if my first build.

You can try setting the BIOS to legacy mode and trying the install again. Are you trying to install Windows from a DVD or a thumb drive (USB drive)?

It does seem that your motherboard does not have an IDE setting for SATA mode. Trying disabling CSM and selecting the non-UEFI boot source to start the installation process. You can change settings back after installation is complete.

I am downloading it from a dvd. Switching it didn't work. A main problem I'm having is that it won't show the drivers, especially when I put them on a USB. I've tried plugging in the USB into every port and it won't show it. I've tried putting the drivers on a dvd but that didn't work either...

It is a Microsoft disk. I'm not sure how old it is but it might be a little old, I don't know if that effects it.

That should not be an issue. The standard SATA drivers will be used for the installation. You can always update later.

I would suggest trying this. With your product key info, download the most current ISO for Win 7 and burn/write to a DVD or USB drive and try installing with that.

You can get Win 7 directly from MS, here:
