Hi I was bored and happened to run PassMark Performance Test on my system and was shocked to see that my memory was scoring an apparently quite low with a Memory Mark of just 1,287 which is dragging down my whole PassMark score.

I'm wondering if perhaps the memory is set up wrong in the BIOS. It's 2x4GB sticks of Patriot Venom Red DDR3 PC3-19200C10 2400MHz.

Does anybody out there have experience of this mobo/ram setup and know what the correct BIOS settings are for this memory?

DRAM Frequency 1070.2Mhz
FSB: DRAM 3:16
CL 9.0 clocks
tRCD 11 clocks

Hi. So before I got your reply I thought it might be an idea to update the BIOS as there were several new revisions since the board was shipped. Update went fine but then I noticed that the system wasn't set in "performance" mode and so I changed it to that which apparently knocked out my previous settings. If I recall the system was overclocked automatically with an Asus utility that came with the board, my own experience with overclocking manually involved scribbling on pins with a pencil in the 90's. I'm saying that just so that you know I don't really have much idea what I'm doing here!

Anyway, since updating the BIOS and switching on performance mode CPU-Z looks like this;

It's dropped the memory score in PassMark by a few points but it seems negligible. Perhaps as Calvin says I've got the wrong memory for an AMD FX CPU?

Here's a screenshot of my BIOS,

The best I could set the memory frequency at manually was 1728Mhz, anything higher and the system didn't POST. I don't know whether I should perhaps run the auto-overclock utility again or if somebody might know which of those settings need tweaking?

Hi thanks for the advice, I read your article and a few others and decided to have a go at manually overclocking. Managed to get the CPU up to 4500Mhz and its nice and stable but I had no real luck improving the memory score much in PassMark. However I did download other baseline scores for this CPU/Mobo combo and it seems that my memory mark score isn't too shabby in comparison with these. Thanks again for your help.
