Hi there. I am a first-time PC builder having problems trying to install my CPU cooler onto my motherboard. I am using an Intel cooler from an older computer that uses push pins. I've been trying to get it on my motherboard (Gigabyte H110M-H DDR 4 LGA1151 Micro ATX) for ages but the holes on the motherboard are too far apart for the cooler to go into... Is there a reason as to why this would happen? I've tried 3 other coolers from my old computers and none of them will reach the holes either. Please help

Solution
Hello... Typically each newer model of CPU's and MB's change the size, spacing and specs of the Cooler mounting... you need a 1151 spec'd cooler... with that MB and CPU.

Oh right okay so I'm gonna have to buy a new cooler then or is there a way to make this one work? I just found out the old motherboard was a LGA775 if that helps.

Hello... LOL there is always a way... the "bracket" they screw to the cooler/Fan is basically how they do it... theses types of adaptors are provided in "cooler kits"
I modded a 775 to a 1150 MB... and the Cooler sits at a angle on the MB... because the holes were, LOL
Mine was screw down model and it made it easier? If you can get the Mounting bracket MOD correct, it could be done? But with push-pins, you will not have room/material for drilling new holes for them... I would suggest seeing if you could use a screw system to mount it? B /

Hahah thanks for the help, I think I'll just buy a new LGA1151 CPU Cooler to avoid any mistakes that I will probably make but thank you for all the solutions :)
