I recently got a ZTE Zmax 2 phone, which is an Android system. My carrier is AT&T.
I am trying to use it as a WiFi hotspot for 3 systems:
My laptop running Windows 8.1,
My desktop computer running Windows 7,
And my housemate's desktop computer running Linux Mint 17.1 ("Rebecca") with MATE.
I connected my laptop to the hotspot with no problems. The other two computers will recognize the connection, but will just continuously ask for authentication even though I know I am typing the password correctly. They will not connect to the hotspot.
I have used two other phones as WiFi hotspots in the past (using this same method and carrier), and both the Linux and Windows 7 computers have been able to run off of them. One was a Kyocera and the other was a different ZTE model.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
