nvidia GTX770 4k 60hz displayport not working

With an AMD Radeon RX460, active displayport (GPU) >HDMI2.0 (TV) adapter, HDMI2.0 cable, and LG43UH610 4k TV, 4k at 3840x2160/60hz ran perfectly. I think it was 4:4:4 but I'd have to check. Either way it looked great.

With the exact same setup as above, except with an nvidia GTX770, I can only get 30hz, and only sometimes. If I switch to 60hz the top half of the screen goes solid grey, and the bottom half flickers. Or, with the GTX, I can skip the adapter and plug into the GPU's HDMI (which is not 2.0), and get 60hz but it's 4:2:2, it kills my eyes, and the mouse is a little laggy.

So it must be the GTX. I've tried the 3 latest drivers. I've read through a ton of posts about this, and saw nvidia support say "it's something we're working on," but have not seen a solution.

I'm not gaming - just need it to work fine in Windows.

Has anyone had similar problems and found a solution?

Thanks!

Windows 10
AMD fx-8350 4ghz
32GB RAM

Let me know if any other information is necessary.

Ugh... Sorry to say this, but if you went nVidia to drive a TV screen you chose incorrectly. I've been switching back and forth between ATI/AMD and nVidia (currently my notebook is nVidia and HTPC+PC are AMD) and nVidia has always given me heachaches with TV support; and that is not even using adapters.

So, I'm sorry to say, but you will have to wait for nVidia to address the issue through drivers at some point. If you must, you should get a DVI-D to HDMI adapter. It's the only reliable "adapter" that I have been able to use across the board with my notebook (mind it doesn't have HDMI 2.0; GTX675m/GTX580m). If your TV comes with a DP, then by all means buy a DP cable.

Cheers!

Thanks for the response! To be clear, the DVI-D to HDMI adapter should theoretically allow 4k at 60hz? If so, does the adapter need to say "HDMI 2.0" or "4k" or anything?

What kind of TV are you using? I don't think I've seen any with displayport. I bought the LG to try everything out but I still have a few months to return it.

From my limited knowledge with adapters, DVI-D should be capable of delivering HDMI2.0 signaling through a passive adapter, but I have never ever tried it first hand nor even have close experience. You could think of it as a last resource thing.

And my TV is a Panasonic Viera (Plasma), but older than this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-TX-P42S30B-Freeview-discontinued-manufacturer/dp/B004TFDSUQ

I've also tested the notebook with Sony TVs and other brands... Pain in the behind all the time using HDMI or DVI-to-HDMI. In all fairness, once working, no issues afterwards.

Cheers!
