I suppose this falls under motherboard discussion, since it seems to be a motherboard issue to me. Mods please feel free to move it if it fits better elsewhere.

I'm getting this strange issue where when I boot, if I do nothing, I get the "Select Proper Boot Device" message. However, if I go into BIOS first, and do absolutely nothing and immediately save and quit, the system boots fine. It's been doing this for a couple weeks now, I just haven't had the time to troubleshoot it especially since I can get it to boot relatively easy it's just very annoying to have to go into my BIOS every time I boot. I've flashed my BIOS both from Windows and from a flash drive, with no luck.

Specs:
EVGA Z170 FTW Motherboard
Intel i7-6700k CPU
Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB 2666 Memory
Asus GTX 1070 DUAL Video Card

Solution
Maybe the boot order setting in the BIOS, double check the boot order, like the SSD ( or HDD) with OS should be the 1st, or DVD/CD=1st, the HDD/SSD=2nd. Also check your boot device (SSD or HDD) does connect to the 1st SATA port.

That fixed it, I didn't change the boot order, but I originally had my HDD plugged into Sata port 0, and SSD (boot drive) in port 1. I just swapped them, and we're all good. Thanks!
