Hello all new guy here. In my searches to find an answer to my xbox one controller issues I stumbled across these forums. I have been trying to reinstall a PDP Gaming Afterglow xbox one controller into my computer. I have tried every problem solving answer I could find on the internet, most of which came from these forums, still no luck.

A couple of months ago I had some overheating cpu issues. Turned out to be a motherboard problem and I have since installed a new motherboard and needed to do a fresh Windows 7 Professional install. I started to install and load all the fun things I had in the previous set up, last thing being this controller.

So I am running Windows 7 Professional 64bit. i7 2600k, 16gb ram. I went from an Asus Sabertooth motherboard to an EVGA Z68 motherboard.

So things I have tried to solve the issue:
found and installed microsoft xbox drivers
updated windows again (supposedly the controller drivers are in the updates)
I have tried different usb ports in my system
I have changed settings in gpedit (sorry I forget which settings exactly)
I have tried all these things each time uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, settings and updates. Nothing has worked yet. The controller lighting is on while plugged into the computer but there is no response from it in games. When I unplugged and plug the usb back into the computer I get the error sound from my computer which none of my other peripherals did when connecting them.

I am by no means a professional when it comes to this kind of thing but I do know how to get around windows.

Solution
Ok my issues has been fixed. It seems although I was connected to the internet through a hardwire I needed to install my wireless router. Funny thing is I was helping a friend with his wireless router issue and walking through the issue on my computer I fixed my controller problem. Quite odd to me but I am happy.
