I'd rather save money on a motherboard and get a better cpu for overclocking. How low can I go and still have a decent overclocking experience?

Solution
OCing will depend on both your CPU (all are individual, i.e. some OC very well and others not very well, silicon lottery). I suggest a good mobo as you don't know how well the CPU can OC till you try it, since if you get say a weak 4690K then a board with a good power phase design will help in the OCing rather than one with a weak design. Might look at the Asus Z97-A
