Hi - I'm having an issue when Im playing world of warcraft (legion) that just came up a few weeks ago.
Il be playing for a few minutes and then when we get to a boss, my system will spike down to 10-20 fps . then when the boss is done its gone and im back to 60. Ive turned the settings to low and it still happens. I'm monitoring the ram/vram/cpu/gpu and nothing seems off.
I think my entire computer may be lagging during those times but im not positive.
I'll restart the computer and its back to normal and i can run just fine. It seems to only happen when the computer has been off for at least a few hours and then i turn it on

Specs:
i7 4790
gtx 970
SSD main (with game and OS), HDD external

software running
windows 10
WoW
afterburner

I'm wondering if potentially my addons are stored on the HDD but that doesnt make sense and i dont think it would cause this issue

has anyone had similar behavior or know what could cause this

What about ram? Add-ons would be loaded into memory, and if you are hitting a high amount during a RAID boss or encounter you might have a few that are consuming all of it.

Honestly WoW shouldn't be an issue for that system, you can pretty much turn all the graphics on and not see a problem. Most of WoWs performance problems come from the CPU.

just tossed in a 16gb (2x8) hyperx 1866 kit. same issue as when i had 12gb of dell 1600 ram though.

if i had a lower end CPU id think the same, however it doesnt happen at all once i restart the computer, and i have an i7 so thats why that part confuses me

no issue with overheating at all. i keep my gpu under 60, and my cpu hover 50-55 while i play.
i think the issue might have been geforce experience and that capture feature. i uninstalled geforce completely last night. and was able to play w.o issue. if it doesnt come back im just gonna guess its that.
ill just grab my drivers manually . oh well :p
