Hey guys, I've been having a problem with my MSI laptop. I've been experiencing freezing screen along with a jamming sound over the 1 year that I've been using it. This happens ONLY when I play STEAM games such as DOTA, CSGO, L4D2 and such. Just wondering if you guys know anything about this and would appreciate any help.

Information(If it's needed):
Laptop: MSI GE62 2QF Apache Pro
CPU: Intel Core i7-5700HQ
GPU: Nvidia GTX 970M
OS: Windows 10 Home 64bit
RAM: 8GB
Storage: SSD 128GB
HDD 1TB

No I haven't, I still had this problem even after I formatted it to factory settings

Ok, but firmware will affect your BIOS and even your hardware (RAM, HDD, MB etc). Actually, noticed you say there's a jamming sound too. That could be the GPU or HDD (as they have moving parts) so maybe one of those isn't functioning correctly. You say it's been happening for over a year, well was it second hand or did you have a warranty?

Was brand new, warranty sticker still there but receipt is gone. Also, the thing about the jamming sound is that it comes from the computer audio. Like if I'm in a Skype call with a friend and he happens to say "everything", when it crashes it'll sound like "everyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy...".

I'd try looking for a bios update but I have no idea how to work the bios. xD

Oh I get what you mean, like the audio hangs? Brrrrrrrrrr kinda noise? Yeah that's different. I was just wondering if it was someone elses as they may have thrown a bad hard drive or something in there. Shame you can't get support under warranty, but am sure MSI support would still help. Did you install the OS or was it pre-installed? And in Event Viewer, under Windows Logs can you find any messages with red warning signs next to them after a crash, and what do they mention?

If you are unfamiliar with BIOS only mess with them as a very last resort but you may have to reset them. Often when you reset BIOS you need to reinstall an OS so make sure you have everything backed up before doing anything with BIOS.

I don't see anything in the Event Logs regarding the crash. Desperation is setting in >.<

The problem with sending it in for repairs is I live about 40 minutes away from the retail store. And while they can help me send it in for repairs, they have to send it to a completely different state which is about a 5 hour drive away, so that makes repairing it take about at least a month.
