Will Ram at different speeds still work?

I had one stick of 8GB of ram at 1600 MHz, and I recently bought another stick of 8 GB from the same company to upgrade my ram on my PC. However I realized that the new one that I bough was 1866 MHz. If I use them both together would it simply run the 1866 MHz ram at speeds of 1600 MHz? Or should I expect compatibility issues and simply buy another stick of 1866MHZ and not use the 1600MHZ

Answer is a yes and no.
There is no guarantee that they will run at 1600 MHz effectively together. No manufacturer would even claim that it would work period.

That said, they should work together, at some speed. You likely won't have to adjust anything, and you certainly won't notice a difference in performance.

That said, it is entirely possible you get beep codes when you plug in the new RAM, its just not intended to be mixed and matched.

Buying another set of 1866MHz doesn't really improve or reduce compatibility chances, there is a lot more to it than that.

I meant buying another set of 1866 MHz and not using my old ram to have 2 identical 8 GB sticks at 1866 MHz
