Hey! I just got my new RX 480 and installed it. When I boot windows the fans stop and I experience constant artifacting on the screen. After startup the fans no longer spin. I wiped my drivers with DDU before installing and have since installed the latest drivers. I have an XFX PRO500W PSU FX-6350 CPU, ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 Mobo and 8GB of kingston RAM. Thanks
Sounds like you did everything right, you shouldn't be experiencing artifacts at all, it isn't a common symptom or a sign of a problem with drivers or settings. Usually you get artifacts when you OC memory too far... But you're bone stock.
I'd call the manufacturer of your 480.
There's no way my mobo could be faulty or my PSU not drawing enough power?
I sort of assumed it wasn't a fresh build as you said "new RX 480" and i presumed it worked correctly previously.
That said... No i don't think its your MOBO, usually mobo problems don't allow the PC to boot. PSU power draw throws a very specific and identifiable error most of the time. Artifacting is not a symptom of either case.
Artifacting is a symptom of two things really
One, you're pushing your GPU too hard and having memory issues.
Two, Your GPU is fried.
