RX 480 vs GTX 1060 Future Proofing?

I am aware that the gtx 1060 is better than the rx 480 atm... but will it be better in the future when dx 12 is more prevalent? I'm having such a tough time deciding on gpu's. Any help is appreciated!!

If you use a 1080P display, both cards will play games at max settings with no problems. Both will play the new Battlefield 1 coming out soon, for instance. Read about both of them and decide which features are most important to you. Dx11/dx12 is only one item. Another is dual gpu upgrade path like crossfire available with the 480.
