I recently bought a new desktop PC and noticed that my internet connection is much more unstable than it is on my old laptop. Occasionally I will lose internet connection when browsing the internet, or on video games my ping will spike up into the 600's and then go back down. My internet will be totally fine and fast for a while, then out of no where it will drop. My desktop PC is wireless and is in the exact place I would be playing my laptop. My connection is showing that I constantly have 4 bars and 64 mb/s but I get about 1 mb/s or less when downloading.

Make sure the wireless drivers are up to date.
If it is possible, try a hard-wired connection. This way we can determine If you are indeed having problems, or if it might be related to your router or ISP.

I'm not really sure how to do a hard wired connection, but I'd try it if I can.

Plug an Ethernet cable directly into your router and run it to the Ethernet port on your PC.

I don't own an ethernet cable, and my computer is too far away from the router for one to reach.
