Hello!
I'm looking to get into setting up a new computer build, I haven't built one before, and will have a friend help me with setting it all up whenever I have everything purchased.
I'm just looking for the best performance for the price, as I'm not quite sure what is best at the moment.
I'm looking for a high performance rig, and to keep some parts if possible, (case, power supply, and so on. Unless it just isn't possible for the parts chosen)

CPU: no preference, my current is an i7, 3.20 GHz
Motherboard: no preference
Memory: 16 or more
GPU: 1060, 1070, 1080, whichever is best for the price (my current is a 750ti)
Case: No preference, but I'm hoping to keep my current one as it's large, current is a Rosewill BlackHawk ATX Mid Tower
PSU: I would think I can keep the one I currently have, I think it's a 750

I'm fine on storage and peripherals.
Thank you in advance.

Solution
if the power supply is as old as the processor it needs to be replaced.
Build 1 to most would be a fairly high end gaming and good editing/ development PC. Reuse your case and hard drive (or buy a new one depending on it's age) the SSD is for the operating system and programs.

My budget is "not a ridiculous amount", best price for performance. I'm not sure if I'll be able to reuse my processor, but in my computer's properties, it says Intel Core i7 960@3.20GHz.
I'm fine with having to get a new processor, if my current one either isn't reusable, or not good (this computer was picked and built for me, I had nothing to do with picking the parts)
I'll get back to you on the PSU in a bit.

If you need the processing power of the i7 and not the video power of the 400 buck GTX 1070 then you could switch the GTX 1060 for it in the first build. Their so many combinations that will work good but what to get depends on exactly what the PC will be used for as what the best combination would be.
