Currently have a Kingston 240 Gb Hyperx installed in my MSI H97 Gaming 3 and am getting extremely slow read write speeds compared to alot of those Ive seen. Also the access time seems orders of magnitude longer than those ive seen which are sub 0.05 ms

Using AS SSD
Read Speed: ~570 MB/s
Write speed: ~62 MB/s

Acc time
Read: 0.109ms
Write: 2.153

I understand that this test is not performed on compressible data but

Running Windows 10
Bios is set to AHCI

I not sure where to go from here in order to find the issue

Your M2 slot is PCI 2.0 x2. The disk can run on PCI 2.0 x4. You are only able to get half it's possible speed. I must admit I am surprised by how much it has impacted write speed though, but seeing as read speed is about right (the full read speed is 1400MB/s) I guess that's as good as you'll get.

would I then benefit from running it through one of the spare PCI slots via an adaptor or can i use this as an excuse for a new MB?

also would there be any other options/settings i may have missed?

You could check in your BIOS that the Pci bus it is using is x2 I guess, plus update the disk firmware and your BIOS but apart from that not a lot.

It's a good excuse to get a new motherboard but we all have to admit it doesn't take much of one! It'd be cheaper than the disk..

BTW I asked what SATA version because I missed the M2 part :)

Cheers for the Help, current solution will be to get a pci slot adapter, as much as i like the idea of MSI Z170 Gaming 5 RAID 0 Dual samsung 950s in addition to a 6600k or 6700k, sorta out of the budget atm
