Hi. I am in the market for a new motherboard. I am wondering if anyone would be kind enough to inform me as to the difference between H170 and Z170 motherboards.

Any insight is much appreciated :)

I have also noticed B150 motherboard with the LGA 1151 socket as well. If anyone has anything to add on this topic it would also be very much appreciated.

Z-series is for overclocking and very premium features.

H-series is for people who don't want to overclock, or have locked multiplier (non K/X) CPU's with some of the premium features, and costs less. Ecchi not included.

B-series are typically for businesses, and are often cheaper and intended to be purchased in bulk by OEM's to outfit offices. They're less about performance and more about security features.

There's more to it than this, but it gets rather complicated. This is the gist of it.
