Stutter with consistent high fps

I'm running overwatch on the highest setting with a gigabyte 1080 and an amd fx 8350 with the game running off a ssd with high fps but after long periods of play the game will just start to stutter horrendously until i restart my computer. I have no clue what could possibley be the cause of this. if anyone here has any guesses i would be happy to listen. Thank you to anyone that responds.

When i try to record the stuttering with shadowplay the stuttering does not appear.

What is your OS? Also, what is your CPU usage during gameplay (and what's using it)? I've had problems with Windows 7 where Windows Update will start hogging CPU resources for no reason and I get lag until I stop the service.

im running windows 7. its difficult to get an accurate cpu usage during playing (i only have one monitor) next time it happens ill check my cpu usage in task maanger.
