I recently got a new Cisco router with Shaw, and it resulted in my internet not working on my PC. (Though it was able to detect it) I did some googling and found out I could uninstall Related PCIe GBE Family Controller driver and restart and it would reinstall itself, and the problem was resolved.

The following day, I had the same problem so I tried the solution and it did not work several times. I had a second network adapter in my device manager that I uninstalled and tried to reboot, but it didn't automatically reinstall and now my Ethernet cable is not being detected at all.

I have an ASUS B-85 PLUS motherboard, and was using the default drivers that came with it.

What have I done to my computer, and how can I fix it?

Appears that you have uninstalled/deleted the drivers for both the motherboard's built in LAN adapter (wired) and also for the other/second LAN adapter. PCI, USB....? Make and model?

Try reinstalling the default drivers that came with the motherboard.

Then enable and configure the built-in LAN adapter so your PC can rejoin the network.

Once the computer is back on the internet download the applicable drivers for the second LAN adapter via the adapter's manufacturer. Reinstall.

Hi, I should clarify myself. This is my first time posting, and my first time troubleshooting.

I am strictly on a wired connection and as far as I know, I have no wireless on my PC.

I am using the default drivers for my Mobo, and currently have Realtek PCIe GBE family controller installed

My mobo's installation disk has been mistaken for garbage and has been thrown away.

To my understanding, if I can find a way to reinstall the second default driver, my Ethernet cable would work.

Hi, long time no see. Ive since obtained the Mobo install disk and a cd drive, reinstalling the family controller and having no results.

I looked at the back of my pc and noticed my Ethernet light wasn't going off. Is there an essential driver responsible for detecting it that I uninstalled?

No specific drivers for lights that I am aware of.

Depending on the adapter there may be some combination of lights and colors to indicate connectivity, data traffic, and operational network speed.

See if you can find the User Guide/Manual for your motherboard or the ethernet adapter that is in use. There should be some explanation of what the light(s) indicate.

You might also try another known working ethernet cable - see if that changes things.
