Fans that you have on a cpu cooler use two sorts of bearings.
With a cheap fan the fan it`s self will contain what we call a bush, the bush is a simple bearing.
But when the bush becomes worn if the fan is a year old or more, due to the rotation of the fan stork that passes down the middle of the Bush bearing, the copper bush wears and becomes oval in shape, where it should be perfectly round on the inner side where the stork of the fan sits.
This causes the stork to vibrate, and will give off a rather loud grinding type sound when the fan is working.
It can be cured by adding lubrication fluid such as silicone grease, and dismantling the fan assembly packing and lubricating the inside of the copper bush.
But to be honest it is more easy just to buy a replacement fan, or a new cpu cooler Vicnes.
If you wanted to buy just a fan then look for one that states it has a dual ball bearing setup.
A ball bearing fan will last up to two to three times longer and will be slightly more quiet in operation.
