Hey everyone,

Long story short im pretty sure my GFX card has broken and am looking to buy a new one but i'm clueless.

I'm happy to spend £200+/-50 should it be a worthwhile purchase. I built my first PC a while ago so i'm not sure of the current 'strength' of everything but I will try to list what I can remember.

PSU: Corsair TX650
CPU: Intel i7 920 (?)
RAM: 12GB i think, might be more
MoBo: Gigabyte GA-X58-UD5

And the broken GFX Card was a Radeon HD 6970.

So im just looking for any recommendations or advice as to what would work well with the current set-up. I've been looking around for a while but can't seem to make sense of all the different cards floating around.

Thanks so much for your time,

He could possibly pick up a second r9 290 or r9 290x for around £120.

They are serious gaming cards and he could look to upgrade his monitor or put £ aside for a newer PC entirely which is surely where he needs to be looking to spend £ if he wants to get much better performance.

£400-500 would get you a decent new motherboard, processor and ram combination.

Assumes you can learn to build which is in itself well worth doing and simple.
