Recommend a ~500gb SSD (not Samsung)

The Samsung 850 evo is the gold standard as it is extremely popular and a best seller. But what is the #2 or #3 option? I want high speeds, reliability, and good price. Under $150usd. Please suggest other SSD cuz the 850 evo isn't available by me.

Intel and Samsung are definitely on the same level in terms of all those metrics (Samsung is a little less expensive in most series of SSD). Crucial is really good on reliability, but their write speeds are significantly slower than either Samsung or Intel. There are plenty of other high-performance options on the market but if reliability is your main concern, I would stick with one of those 3.

^^ Second on the Crucial drives. They're pretty rock-solid - the only one to stay away from at the moment is the BX200 series drives. It's not that they're bad, they're just dead slow for a SSD (it was Crucial's first TLC based drive). So - the MX series are all good (it's Crucials performance line), the BX100 series is good, just avoid the BX200 series unless it's going to be used in a 'write once read many' type of archive for bulk storage.

I'm getting an all new rig in Jan/Feb once I know what AMD is bringing in terms of CPU. Really hope they got something good and at par with intel. Also, this isn't a work rig so I don't need a M.2 SSD. I'm just looking for high quality and speed in a SSD if the 850 EVO isn't available.

I have OCZ Trion 150 and Crucial MX300 on my list, how about the Plextor M7V or Kingston Savage?
