unless you use a software that can use your gpu to accelerate it then its going to be heavy on cpu usage

Because you are using a program of that nature, it will be very CPU intensive, the same thing happens with my PC when I tell it to render a video, and my tablet and my phone so it sounds absolutely normal to me, nothing to worry about
