I was installing my first pc when I made the terrible mistake of disconnecting the 8pin cable from my graphics card while it is powered. A small spark ignited and a small fire erupted near where the cable should be plugged. I put it out in 2 seconds and unplugged it, and no visible evidence of damage can be seen from the graphics card other than a smell of burning. I took out the card and powered on my system again without it and everything was still functional. Should i put the card back in an test it? Would it be safe? Thanks a lot!

My friend you have learned an expensive lesson.

If you're lucky you can box it up and return it to the store and get another.

If not toss it in the trash.

If it wasn't completely obvious, which it seems it was not, don't touch stuff inside your PC while it is running.
