Only left and right speaker are producing audio when the channel is set to 7.1. I've tried reinstalling, using front audio jacks which worked for a day then I unplugged it and when I plugged it back in it started happening to the front panel aswell where only left and right speakers had audio.

Solution

Well, if you don't connect some jacks and assign them as surround speakers, ofcourse you will only hear left and right. You only hear what you have connected. If you click the image for the front port where you have teh headphones connected and assign it as, say, "center/subwoofer" you will stop hearing the left and right channels in teh headphones and hear center/SW instead.

It's virtual 7.1 on my headset. Not sure what you mean about having a source. Surely the test button in realtek audio manager and windows playback devices is somewhere to test the channels because all channels show up and I can hear audio from left and right speakers but when it goes to any other one like rear or centre it's silent.

I'm just using Realtek audio manager and setting channel to 7.1 and also setting it to 7.1 in windows playback devices.

Are you using a Logitech headset? The sound is built in the headset. You don't need to set Realtek software. Logitech has it's own software to adjust the sound much better. Look on their website for the latest driver. Or the brand of your set website.
