may i use some dell ram i found for a good price into a normal computer. The ram is called snpv51k2c/16g. so i want to add this ram into my desktop but would it work im afraid because its made by dell it only works on dell systems. Sounds stupid but i just want to double check if it would work on a normal computer if i wanted to upgrade

Solution
If you own a DDR4 MB and do not intend to combine the stick with some other one, it will work 100%. If you want to use it in tandem with anotehr stick, you'll have to try and see as there's no other way to know.

sorry about that

i7 6700k
AsRock Z170 Pro4 Skylake ATX Motherboard
1tb hdd
500w psu
asus gtx 1060

and this is a future computer its not physically here yet so if anything is incompatible please tell me what to change

Change the PSU to a better one like teh XFX TS 550W and get an SSD like the Crucial MX300 275GB. Also, always use http://pcpartpicker.com/ for all these discussions.

Dell has been known to use proprietary DRAM (and drives) so might chek with them and ensure this model is not proprietary to one of their models. Also that's a single stick model #, if only going 16GB be better with a 2x8GB to get dual channel performance (up to a 10-15% increase). Or if thinking of buying 2 of these - no guarantees when mixing packages of DRAM, even if same exact model #.
