So I am upgrading my desktop, from a 270 and FX6300 to an i5 6600k and and im wondering which card i should buy, a GTX 1060 or RX 480. I can get a 6gb 1060 for 10$ less than a 8gb 480, is the price difference worth it for the extra 2gb of Vram?

Solution

Get an i5 6500 + a cheaper non-OC board and no cooler and use the extra cash towards a GTX 1070.
That being said, 1060 out of what you asked.
i got the 1060 due to lower power usage, lower temperatures, generally less noise. The 1060 has more potential for overclocking as well. The 480 will most likely be better supported in the future, and out performs the 1060 in DX12 and Vulcan games which are not too common currently. Both are fabulous cards, but i would go with the 1060 since its cheaper anyway (and will be cheaper in power bills if you pay those :p )
