Hi guys, i see that some games coming out now are becoming pretty demanding, so im looking to buy a new cpu. RIght now im running an i5 4690k and im thinking an i7 but i dont know which one. I was looking at the Intel Core i7-6700K, however, im not sure if i should be looking at something better because i want it to last me about 3 years with good performance. Thanks

edit. The i7 6700k is looking good since its 4.0ghz so just wondering if thats a decent buy or not. im no expert.

The 6700k is probably the best gaming cpu currently. High clock, 8 threads, overclocks well. You'd need a new mobo and ram

But, what can't your current cpu do? I wouldn't upgrade unless i was being limited now
Think about what you're doing for a minute. You're talking about upgrading to a CPU that only has around 10% ipc gains for a lot of money. The Core i5 4690K is still good enough to play all the latest games and will be still good in 3 years from now. You get 10% IPC gains plus hyperthreading for ~$600.

Don't get hung up on those high Battlefield 1 CPU requirements. You only need the Core i7 if you play at 120hz or 144hz and want frame rates to match. Just about any Core i5 will have trouble getting those high frame rates because they lack hyperthreading and the CPU cores will be highly utilized in BF1. 60 FPS is no problem though on your CPU. If you must have the hyperthreading then get a Core i7 4790K instead. You will save loads of cash and get just about the same gaming performance. The difference in performance from the 4790K to the 6700K does not justify the extra cost to upgrade.
