So I've been wanting to start my first gaming pc build on a budget, at first I was thinking to buy a used computer like one of those dell optiplex's and upgrade it to a decent gaming pc for around $400 but I feel like I may have found a pretty good deal for a used gaming pc on Craigslist for $300 but need some advice/guidance..
So the ad says this about the specs:

"Specs
AMD Quadcore cpu w/ cooler
Radeon-ASUS HD7770 GPU
8gb corsair DDR3 ram
1TB western digital Hard drive
ASUS mother board"
I asked if he knew the specific cpu and he said he thinks its an AMD A8 4300 and he's not 100% sure it's been awhile. But that name is like 2 different cpus I believe, there is the amd fx 4300 and then there are other amd a8 models but no "4300".
I'm just curious if this is enough information to put $250-300 into as a starting pc and upgrade it a little later on. I mainly want to be able to play games like dayz and rust ect. With at least medium graphic settings. I wouldn't really expect any budget build to run those style of games at high or ultra but he says he paid $900-$1000 for the build about 4 years ago, any thoughts?

Would be better than the above build, you don't get as good a motherboard, but you get a far superior CPU, a better GPU, slightly worse PSU, same amount of RAM. I wouldn't get the one off of craigslist. If the dude can't be bothered to check in system specs what CPU it is, it's not worth your time. Especially if it's only an AMD quad core. An FX/A8 quad core will get taken down by an i3 no problem. The 7770 will easily get taken down by the 750Ti. It wouldn't be worth it for you to spend the $300 on that and then spend even more money to upgrade it, the CPU simply isn't going to be strong enough.

Yeah that makes sense, I like those partlists, I just thought you always wanted to go with a quad core over a dual core from what I've heard, there's also this other cheaper deal on Craigslist that actually have a part picker link and it's only $300

I didn't think it looked too bad I'm just a little worried about it having an apu instead of a cpu
