I am so confused with what is happening. If an Admin reads this and finds a better home for this problem please move it.

Specs:
i7-950
x58-gd45
3 x 4GB Ballistix DDR3
HD 6950
HD 6970
HX750
1 TB HDD
Generic CD Drive (LG?)

So my computer won't POST with an HDD or CD drive installed to the PSU (with or without being connected with SATA connectors.)

All that happens is it turns on for a split second (PSU, Fans and MB lights.) Without the HDD or the CD Drive it reaches POST and I can acces BIOS.

Any ideas?

Solution
It cannot harm to test with a different PSU. Nothing fancy, just to power it up (use a single GPU only for that test). And yeah, I forgot that you could once xfire different cards ;)
Did you just build that rig and are trying to POST for the first time, or the problem appeared suddenly after already being used without issues?

Just out of curiosity, why 2 different video cards at the same time? I would first unplug one of them, both don't make sense to me.

L0stChild: Just stating the fact that I can reach BIOS without the HDD and CD Drive installed.

herrwizo: All previously working parts but new HDD. The CD Drive is old.

I can get it to POST with just the MB, CPU, RAM and 1 GPU. It will only reach POST in this configuration.

P.S. You can Xfire the HD6950 with the HD6970.

The fact that it only turns on without any SATA/Peripherals plugged in. Only when I do plug anything in to the SATA/Peripheral ports on the PSU, it fails. Failing to turn on if I plug anything in before turning on, or shutting down when I plug in anything while everything is running.
