hi all, im having a weird problem with my new computer. i bought a mobo Asrock H110M-HDS with 4gb DDR4 and a Intel i3 6100 procesor. i installed Windows 7 x86 because i need 32 bits in order to run certains old programs.

the problem is that windows regonize the 4 gb ram but only 1.89 gb ram is usable. i have another machine with the same configuration and it does the same.

my video shared memory is 256 Mb in both cases

what can i do?

thanks in advance!

A windows 7 32 bit os needs to carve out dedicated ram for hardware buffers.
I have a 32 bit os to run civ 2.42.
With 4k of ram, I have 3.20 useable using integrated graphics.
Since you have much less available, I think you have a problem.
If you have many hardware devices, you will need reserved space for I/O. A video card with large vram might be an issue.

One thing to check is to run msconfig.
Under boot, select advanced options.
There will be a box labeled maximum memory.
On mine it is blank so I do not know what the default is.
If I check the box, 4gb is filled in, so I imagine that is the default.
But, if anything less shows, make it 4gb.
