Hello:

I´m trying to get a new router, but I have too many doubts.
Money is not a limit, but I don´t like to waste it.

My main option is Asus RT-AC88U, but despite its top functions, I´ve read that there are not too many devices that can use this, (mu-mimo clients for example), so I think my new main option is RT-AC68U.

I want it to bridge a wireless network from a router that I can't connect through LAN (it´s in my boss house, right in front of me, and we share the connection), and then, connect my NAS and my devices.

Being this said, could you help me choosing? I´m open to other brands (not only asus)

Thank you very much!

Solution
If you understand the Mu-mimo issue then you should also know that the 600m rate on 2.4g is not part of the official 802.11n standard and running more that 2 mimo feed provides little benefit for most people.

Still the function you want is called client-bridge. This is not something most routers have it is more a feature of a repeater/extender. You can get it on many asus routers by loading the asus-merlin firmware or other third party firmware but it does not have that feature in the factory firmware.

So if the money is not a huge issue the way you do this correctly is to use outdoor bridge equipment. Ubiquiti and engenius sell many models and most are fairly inexpensive.

Best option would be to put wireless bridge on both...

Best option would be to put wireless bridge on both ends. It would go router---bridge-----bridge----AP(or router in your place). If the signal is very strong from the main router you might be able to skip the bridge on the far side and connect your bridge directly to the router.

Solution
Routers are meant to be used for very long time. So the features that not many devices support today, will be very useful in a year.
I have the RT-AC68 and unless you know how to deal with such boxes (flash custom firmware, overclock the CPU etc) i'd not recommend it.
For example, the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi is conflicting with USB 3.0 port. you can not get decent performance until you overclock the router to 1000-1200MHz (800 stock).
Have a look at the Netgear Nighthawk
https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Nighthawk-X4S-MU-MIMO-R7800-100NAS/dp/B0192911RA/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1475070879&sr=1-1&keywords=nighthawk%2Bx4s%2Br7800
It is cheaper than AC88, and way better than AC68.
