Is my motherboard dying?

Hi guys, thanks in advance for your informed input.

I've been having problems with my PC. I loaded up totalwar Warhammer one day, it froze screen went red and shut off, then it kept blue screening with different errors. So logically I took out 1 stick of ram after unsuccessfully trying to re-install graphics drivers etc.. This worked for a few days!

Then today I got a bluescreen on the same game(coincidence?) critical_process_died. Then on restart, it was asking my to inset a bootable device. So I use bios to manually select my ssd, boots up. Log into windows, black screen. Tried some shit I read and ran repair cmd prompt with rebuilding my bcd or something, didn't work.

I tried checking all the cables.

Then, I try again after pressing f8 to select my ssd to boot off. Windows boots up! Sent a message on steam and stuff. Then I go plug in my USB hdd to back some stuff up, BSOD critical_process_died within a second of plugging in my USB hdd.

To give you an idea of age, my processor is a phenom x6 1055t. My psu and gpu are less than a year old.

What is failing here and how do I go forward?
- is it my SSD failing?
- is my motherboard dying?
- maybe more faulty ram? But why would that cause it to forget what drive it is too boot from?

I hope you guys can help me solve this puzzle. I really am at a loss on what to do. Thanks!

Don't know what is wrong, but if you got the time, you can test it yourself!

SSD failing?Suspicious RAM? most likely not, but in any case, get something (software) that can test S.M.A.R.T.'s of a drive (like Speed fan).Memtes86 for the ram.

Mobo, probably, i got an old mobo with a couple of fried components that does similar things besides running really slow. (It's junk, but i can't part with it :)

I have 2 sets of different ram I had 12gb of ram, 2*4gb PC3-10600 1333mhz, unbranded, now only 1 as this was the stick I removed. The other is 2*EASYRAM 2gb PC10600 DIMM

The SSD is OCZ Agility 3.

I have a 1tb secondary hdd

My mobo is ASUS, I can't find a name but I did find socket942 at the top, I will take a photo for you.

Thanks.

I've been reading about the CMOS battery. Would re-setting this help? It boots just crashes when plugging in USB or other stuff + the above.
