NTFS was an update to fat32, but the big changes (journaling and permissions) aren't needed on a portable drive. Also there's the compatibility. FAT32 is compatible with Windows, MAC and Linux - and most important the DVD Players, Smart TVs, Printers, Digital Cameras, Media Players, Smartphones.

Does it have issues formatting to NTFS but can format to like exFAT just fine? It could be an issue with the thumb drive it self. If you try to format anything over 32GB windows wants to format it as NTFS by default. Usually 16Gb and under thumb drives it wants to do it as Fat32 or exFAT. I have had to use Diskpark to format some small drives as NTFS

i had 2 usb sticks fail on me after ntfs formating, but i need the flexibility of saveing files larger then 4GB... and I see there is an isue of compatibility with other devices like media players, I wood like to be able to play movies on TV. even movies are now larger than 4GB, how to play movies on a TV if it does not support ntfs sistem???
