Hey, first I wanted to thank everyone here. This forum has been unbelievably helpful when I used to browse for my troubleshooting problems. I've never posted but this time I wasn't able to find any solution despite browsing all the forum topics related on here already.

Here's the issue: The other night I was trying to get my computer to recognize a PS3 controller and online I read that I could uninstall certain HID drivers to have Windows recognize my controller. I (stupidly?) followed that advice and uninstalled several drivers in my device manager that had a ? next to them and proceeded to restart my computer.

After restarting, I reached the Windows login screen but neither my keyboard not mouse were operational. They are receiving power through the ports. I've tried switching ports, using different hardware but neither of those solutions worked (all USB 2 ports).

Prior to loading Windows, the keyboard and mouse still work and Ive tried to do a system restore but for some reason it isn't working (says it cannot access the C drive?). I tried the repair utility and that didn't work either. I've looked in BIOS to see if there was something related to usb keyboards and mice but could not find anything. I'm not sure what to do from here. I am trying to avoid a system recovery because I don't want to lose all of my files or pay for an external hard drive to back up everything (yet).

Please let me know if anyone knows what I can do from here.
