I'm in the market to get a new gpu. I currently have a gtx 970 in my rig and I'm a bit torn on what to get next. Both the RX 480 and GTX 1060 I'm looking at are both Asus Strix OC models. I enjoy playing games like DOOM(2016), Battlefield, CSGO, Dota, stuff like that. What do you guys think?

Overall the 480 and 1060 are not a large upgrade for a 970 user.

In order of performance it should go 970 -> 480 -> 1060 -> 970 sli(as long as you have profiles for the games). In some games the order will change, but in general that is what you are looking at.

As mentioned above some DirectX 12 games will perform better on AMD cards so you have to decide how many of those you will be playing.

The RX480 runs like a GTX 980Ti in the most of DX12 games and Doom.

Yeah, one of the reasons I considered gtx 970 sli is because most of the games that I play that don't use sli are already good enough on a single 970. The new Battlefield games and other upcoming stuff along with dx12's multi-gpu feature seemingly would make things better for sli builds from what I've seen.
