So I cannot find any answer to this which either means I am dealing with another issue or its just me with needing to flash a bios.

Anywho I experience random display driver crashes and black screens while gaming with my new 980ti sli setup. Temps are about 68 and 73 degrees for either card so it isn't a tempurature issue. I went through all the clocking of the gpu and it seems to only have stability issues with clocking the memory clocks.

I checked and have Samsung in one card and Hyprix in the other. Is this an issue or do I need to just get more voltage to the cards? I usually experience crashes after 20-30 mins of gaming at 1468 clock speed and 7800-7900 mem speed. When I dock it down to 1436 clock speed and 7100-7200 mem speed it is stable. Temps do not really change with these clock speed changes.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Dustin

Wrong!

Each card has its own set of ram. SLI does not combine the ram or only use 1 card. So if its crashing from a overclock of the memory, than 1 card cannot clock as high. Easy fix is not to overclock the memory at all or as high. You can tell what brand/type of memory by using GPU-Z as it will tell you all the specs per card.

I cannot remember what brand sucks, but of the 3 (Samsung, Micron and Hyprix) one of those cannot overclock at all. I think Samsung is the best overclocker if I recall.

In SLI, the faster card is designated the "Master" and the slower card the "Slave." When the frames are being alternated or split, the faster card will have to match the clocks of the slower one. So yeah, you are definitely correct that they each utilize their own RAM. However, the RAM is mirrored, so different overclockability between two brands shouldn't be the issue.
