Have had this comp over the last few years with no issues. Over the weekend I was playing WoW and suddenly the computer just restarted. Screen just went blank and then the startup screen came up. Everything worked correctly afterwards and continued playing for a while with no issues. Yesterday the same issue happened. It looks like all my accessories turned off and then the computer restarted. Since that point I have been having issues with games as my FPS dramatically dropped 20-30s at mostly max settings in game. The sound would also cut out for a couple of seconds every 30 seconds or so. Did some benchmark tests and where I used to score extremely high, even recently, I am now super low (Example: Ran Heaven and would run most of the tests at a few hundred and now it is down to 12 FPS). Both cards look to be running, but the temps used to hit low 80s in the past and now it looks like they rose up to 60 and tapered off). I looked in the control panel and device manager and it looks like both GPUs are supposedly running, but clearly not the case.

Not a hardware person, had the rig built elsewhere and have had to look up different things to try and test this out. Definitely could use some help to figure out if it is one of my cards and which one is having issues, if not both. Haven't updated the card drivers since the last one the previous week. I think there was a Windows 10 update that installed over the weekend, but never had issues before with anything.

Also if one of the cards did crap out, what is the recommendation for getting it replaced? Do I get the same card and replace the busted one? Assuming of course it is just one of them. If not, recommendations on a new one? I had been looking at the 1080 so I could upgrade to a 4K screen soon. I believe it is compatible according to putting my specs on pcpartpicker, but I want to make sure I am getting my moneys worth out of it and not finding that what I have is holding it back. Was not looking to incur a large expense at the moment, but if I have to replace a GPU, I feel like I should at least make sure I can continue to run games at high specs.

Appreciate any assistance that can be offered.

Solution
Try running the GPU in another machine to see if that is the issue. If it works fine in that machine then the other options are the CPU/Motherboard bus which can only be tested by comparing benchmarks to similar rigs although it will still be difficult to pinpoint which one is the issue. Also measure the usage on both the CPU and GPU through software such as MSI Afterburner to make sure that they are being utilised fully.
