Afte getting the activation lock removed from an iPad (Finally!) I was instructed to follow this guide In order to restore it to be set up as new. However, i am wary in doing so as i do not want to have to face the same problem again if i make a mistake. Just looking for clarification on the process of restoring an iPad to its Default/Factory Settings after activation lock has been removed. Thanks.

I can't think that there would be a better guide than the one provided by Apple.

If you're that unsure, though, then take it to the local store for your carrier, & have them restore it for you. That way, if they break it they have to replace it.

The 'Situations' describe on the site were not representative of what circumstances i was facing.

"In these situations, you might need to use recovery mode to restore your device:
1) iTunes doesn't recognize your device or says it's in recovery mode.
2) You see the Apple logo on your screen for several minutes with no progress bar.
3) You see the Connect to iTunes screen."

However, i just did it anyway and it worked fine (Device no longer 'bricked'!). Thanks though.
