So I bought a evga gtx 960 ftw and I cannot overclock it at all like a 50mhz overclock is unstable in games and i dropped it to 40mhz and it stilk crashed after a while of playing, all my temps are good highest temp is like 80c and voltage doesn't do anything, same thing happened with my old gtx 460 but i could overclock it very heavily but voltage made no difference. Im using msi after burner to overclock. My system specs are
CPU: AMD FX 8300
MOBO: ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0
PSU: CX430
GPU: EVGA GTX 960 FTW
RAM: 8GB of G-SKILL SNIPER SERIES

Solution
The FTW versions are well binned and already factory overclocked.
I would not count on more.

Enjoy your card.
Most likely, you games are limited by the slow core speeds of your FX cpu.

How does it crash? Does it restart the computer, or just crash whatever application you're using? If the computer is restarting my first thought would be that power supply. Are you turning up the power limit or adding voltage when you overclock? I would think that CX430 should be enough but maybe not.

It crashes to desktop and crashes the application, as well as the gpu drivers and it recovers, sometimes when gpu recovers it runs at the lowest possible clock speeds and the only way to restore it is a computer restart. I dont think its my psu because my 460 used more power and was on a very heavy overclock.

Shouldn't that mean i could have a higher overclocking potential since its binned better? And im confused on overclocking my fx cpu because bios options have changed so much, i used to have an old core 2 quad motherboard so most of these new options confuse me.
