Hi, I tried to reinstall windows many times on a laptop but it doesn't seem to work, Every time I try to do install a fresh copy of windows xp, it will report system file missing errors, and each time I reinstall it show different errors, but most of the time it say it's missing some files. Copy necessary file didn't help. Also, I can't get the laptop to boot into Windows XP installation, it just ignore it while different OS setup such as win 8 or 10 or linux distros work just fine. Another thing is every time it boot , it make a loud continuous beeping sound, but it still boot just fine. There is a chance that the Hard drive got bad sector though...

Solution
Unfortunately, cyclic redundancy check indicates that there's something wrong with the drive. Some physical flaw perhaps.
If the drive is under warranty, you can just RMA it. In case it is not, you will need to replace it.

Hi there TheEveryDayGuy,

What do you mean by clone?

My suggestion would be to try a different installation media. (CD or a flash drive)
As for the beep sound, you can go to the manufacturer's website, find some sort of a beep codes explanation and see what that beep code means.

As for the HDD, I guess you can use some HDD testing tool for DOS mode. This would show you the overall health status of the drive.

Cheers,

Thanks a lot for your response .
By clone I meant , copy a whole partition content to another partition using software like Symantec Ghost or Acronis True Image.
And for different installation media, I tried...rufus to copy Win XP iso on 2 of my USB flash drive, and it didn't work, got problem like I've mentioned.
Also I put Hiren's Boot CD in my flash drive and used HDAT to check the drive and it kept showing "Uncorrectable CRC or ECC error on read" so... its saying that its time to trash the hard drive?
On HD Tune Error checkl it showed 1 red bar and occasion stop.
For the beeping , It took me a while to figure out, so the laptop's BIOS is Insyde H2O and that sound beep mean the keyboard is malfunctioned.

Well , the HDD was out of warranty a long time ago, so it's a no for this laptop, I think.
But thanks for the answer though.
