Okay, so here is my updated parts list guys http://pcpartpicker.com/list/cMXBqk you all swayed me to move from the AMD processors (especially since the zen architecture isn't here yet), to go for the DDR4, and to go for a Nvidia 10 series GPU... SO, I'd like to hear some feedback on this build before I order. Also, I know in my original post I said I was hoping to order by this weekend, this is build is pushing me realistically about a $100 over my spending ceiling and about $200-$250 over what I really wanted to spend (which I was already exceeding in the previous build as well) so I would have money already aside specifically in this budget for anything that may pop up unexpectedly. What I am asking here is with the holiday season fast approaching would I see significant savings on tech hardware waiting for the Thanksgiving week/Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals that would make near two month wait worth it?

Great to hear that you got yourself a 6gb gpu! that's much better!

about overclocking... short answer is.. yes the overclock does cut into the life of the cpu. but it also depends on how much you push it, what kind of voltages you are running through it and your "full load" temps. although... if you overclock it in modesty, it should not effect the life span too much. I have a chip running at 82-87c which is a kind of..... shit.. haha.. but it's old and i want it to keep up, went from 2.4 > 3.5ghz. But I didnt overclock until i needed to (it has been replaced by new system this month, still working though)

I havent seen any of your previous posts. but you sound like someone who wants to enjoy gaming.

I see a couple of "iffy" things with your build.

#1 are you eve going to be overclocking? and IF YES, is it going to be extreme or moderate? ====> Not overclocking, you can buy cheaper CPU. Not intensive overclocks? you can buy a cheaper cooler, honestly stick with good old airflow cooler, I purchased an h100, but i honestly would rather have an evo212 and the rest of change in my pocket.

#2 GPU. 1060 is a good card, but 3gb vram is technically out dated TODAY. I mean... my 3 year old 7970 has 3gb vram...... There are games already out there that will be unhappy with 3gb vram. I know this may sound silly, but i would recommend an RX480 8gb for nearly the same price as the 1060. Although Yeah... the rx480 is not as Visually up to par with 1060, it will outlast the 1060 if you know what i mean. You should at least roll with a 1060 6gb, already spending a lot of money, it would be dissapointing to be held back in a year with new games requiring more than 3gb vram

#3 have not really seen much of that SSD that you listed, so cant really comment except that I havent seen it... lol not necessarily bad.. but yeah

Yes, I plan on overclocking the I5 as high as I can keep it stable and the lepa liquid cooling system matches the color scheme of my build aswell.

As for the 1060 I know, I was disappointed in only the 3 gig option available in my price range and this may sound stupid but I plan on upgrading to a 1070/80 depending on the price during the first half of next year.

As for the SK Hynix they are huge manufacturers of flash memory and semiconductors and bought Link A Media devices as well as supply the memory chios used in apple products and I have read nothing but good reviews about their SSD with speeds and lifespan rivaling Samsungs for a much more competitive price...

And yes, this machine will be used to enjoy games as well as being ran in dual boot with a Linux partition while I prepare for my Linux+ cert and then CEH next fall as well as other needs for school.

well, I would really recommend an RX480 - 8gb if that's available. For the price you're going to pay that is.

why do you want to overclock to the max? even an i5-6500 will last a good 3 years before needing to overclock.
