Hello there guys! so im finally going to upgrade my 1 year old gtx 970 cause im already experiencing some performance hiccups on the latest games. I wanna ask if the gtx 1060 will be good enough to last me atleast a year and a half or should i go all in on the gtx 1070? and i almost forgot, im using a dual asus 1080p monitor, the first one is for productivity and the other is for gaming.

Here is the basic specs of my PC:

processor: i7 4770
ram: 16gb ddr3 1866
PSU: RM 750i
GPU: MSI gtx 970

Solution
The move to the GTX 1060 6GB won't be as big an improvement as you think. Tom's Hdwr. ranks it only 2 tiers above the GTX 970 in their hierarchy charts. I would move to the 1070 if you have the funds. I recently picked up the slightly crippled 1060 3GB with a few less Cuda cores, and it is on a par with my stock-clocked GTX 970 according to the benchmarks I've run.

IDK why you would want to make this upgrade; I have a 970 and can play at medium to high in 4k on most games at 60fps after turning all the AA settings down. The 970 is still a beast at 1080p and the 1060 6GB is only ~20% faster. Not worth the upgrade IMO and a 1070 is overkill for 1080p.
