Hello, I just started having this issue 2-4 days ago. I'm monitoring my CPU usage in Over watch, and it goes up to 100%, then I get awful lag spikes. Please help! I don't know what to do, maybe thermal paste? Anything is appreciated, thanks. :)

To answer your question, nobody can give a 100% accurate answer. There's many possibilities, all of which require other questions asked. For a fact, something is causing 100%cpu usage. This can happen in several ways. You have something in your system, such as malware (not detectable by most Antivirus, they are different processes, you'll need malwarebytes for that) or you can have an nvidia driver issue, it'll be labeled pre-font cache and can easily soak upto 50% cpu usage (task manager, processes tab, all users) or it could boil down to you the user setting expectations of detail settings the gtx1060 is capable of, that the fx6300 is struggling at. Simple OC to @4.0GHz or better is the usual cure.

monitored temp, and it was not high at all. solid 40 - 60 degrees celsius. It is simply the usage. I have done virus scans, and don't have any viruses.

Just out of curiosity what Anti-Virus are you using? Kaspersky is notorious for eating huge chunks of CPU processing power. Also check out the processes tab in Task Manager and see if any programs in particular are hogging the CPU

Im currently using bitdefender free edition and have not had any problems with it in the past. Also I checked task manager and there aren't any processes taking hogging usage.

kind of hard when you dont even bother to read the stickies on the info people need to even begin to help

something is obviously stealing cpu cycles

run malware scanners, while playing tab out and check processes, make sure you click on "show processes from all users"

some people have said setting it to borderless window fixed the issue

You are not going to get much help with your obnoxious attitude. People asked you a question that might lead to an answer. Should your answer not help them pin down the problem, they simply do not respond. Move on, someone else may help instead.

Getting upset at random people on the internet who can't help you will only discourage more people from attempting to help.

Anyways, if 100% CPU usage is causing your lag spikes, you either have a CPU that is throttling (monitor CPU clocks while gaming), you have another process/program eating up the CPU cycles, or it could simply be a specific game issue (list the games which give you issues).

People ask questions, because without having your system in their own hands, they have to rely on you to do all the work. They can only give out ideas.

guys, im really sorry, this issue has just really been bugging me lately. Not trying to be an asshole, just trying to grab someone's attention with all the caps.

Understand this. This is not a commercial help desk. There is no one paid at all other than 1 or 2 or so of the mods. Everyone else is purely volunteering time of their own to try and help ppl, and these ppl do have lives and families that do take up their time and may prevent a quick response. But there is literally hundreds of posts every day, so it's possible by the time many look, you are already on page 3 and they missed it, or they have little knowledge of your needs. Shouting, by using caps lock does little more than make people NOT want to try and help infantile egomaniacs who think just because they asked a question, they deserve attention and an answer right now. Loose the attitude. It does nothing but garner unwanted attention.

Does this make the point sufficiently clear for you now? Or does it require escalation to the mods, who I guarantee will further educate you.?

All of this can be dependent on the games in question. Skyrim, WoW, gta:V etc are very cpu dependent, more so with mods, and don't do well on fx Cpus since not only relying on core speed, but single thread performance, which fx Cpus suck at.
There's also issues with windows 10, some updates are creating havoc with some pc's, if you must, remove the last few updates, see if that affects anything, and reinstall if not.
