GTAV performance, just a question about hardware..

So with everything cranked. I can play around 15 fps..
And with everything on 'Normal' or 'Off' with a few exceptions for MSAA, AA and stuff (x2, maybe x4), I can play around 45 fps - 60 fps.

note: the resolution is 1920x1080 (no higher because my monitor doesn't support it. Also for some reason my GPU hates AA with all its guts.. It gets really hot (70c - 90c in some cases) when AA is maxed)

So recently I installed the Redux mod and went with the Redux (light) ReShader option.
Once again, everything cranked I can hit about 10 fps - 15 fps, and with everything on low (ish) I hit an average of 20 fps - 60 fps (driving around low detailed areas like the country side or the hills/mountains)..

So my question is, if I upgrade my CPU (fx-6300 Six Core 3.5Ghz) and RAM (8GB 1600MHz) to 16 GB 1600MHz ram (4x4gb) and a fx-8370E 8 core 4GHz CPU, would I be able too crank GTA and get at least 30+ fps on average with the Redux mod? Or should I sell the MOBO+CPU and switch to an Intel?

A brief overview of my components are..

  • Radeon R9 390 8GB GDDR5
    fx-6300 (as mentioned above)
    8GB (2x4) 1600MHz memory (as mentioned above)
    ASUSTeK M5A97 R2.0

I mean, I assume I'd get better frames because its better parts than what I currently have. But is it enough, will there be a huge difference or a small difference?

Thanks in advance!

Yes your cpu is likely bottlenecking your 390. No do not spend money on a 8 core FX. It will barely help you if at all. I recommend saving until you can switch to an i5 + new motherboard. Even the i3 6100 would be a significant upgrade.

The 8gb extra won't have a effect on the games these days. One thing that you could check is the airflow, i mean just remove some dust with a air pressure / dust remover.

If you want a detailed tutorial about how to manage the air pressure in a pc, this video could help you out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8EN3K-eaVA.

If the air pressure wasn't the case then you might need to upgrade the CPU or you might need to turn some programs off.
