What CPU should I get..

After some quick thought and recommendations from other people, I'd like to switch from AMD to Intel. In saying this I'll need both Motherboard and CPU.. :bounce:

I currently have a Radeon R9 390 8 GB GPU to shove on the Motherboard. So I'd like too match that with a Intel CPU so I won't heavily bottleneck it.

Any help or thoughts on what I should invest in is greatly appreciated, thank you! :)

After a few hours research, I've found these 3 items..
Asus B150M-A Motherboard
G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4 2133Mhz CL15 1.2v Desktop Memory Model F4-2133C15D-8GVR 15-15-15-35
Intel Skylake Core i5 6400 2.7Ghz 6MB LGA 1151 4 Core/ 4 Thread

$500.84 (nzd)

Going off what I've read so far (including the comments on this post), thats what I've come up with to kind of equalize everything with my GPU.

Be aware that the 6xxx series draw less power and are ~10% faster per clock. They're around the same price, and their socket (1151) will be receiving at least 2 more generations of CPUs, whereas 1150, which came out almost 3 years ago, is finished.

This doesn't make 4xxx CPUs slow, but the 6xxx chips are objectively better. They will just require that you eBay and replace your RAM too.

With an R9 390, I'd suggest pairing it with any i5 processor you can get (6XXX or 4XXX series)

Take note that 4XXX series uses socket 1150 and uses DDR3 Ram.

Take note that 6XXX series uses socket 1151 and it's recommended to take a DDR4 motherboard/RAM.

Hmm alright. Well I have DDR3 ram, so a 4XXX would be the right path then. I'll take a look around for some good motherboard matches as well. Thanks Faux!
