Hi there

Getting instructions from tutorial videos, I have configured Windows built-in VPN as below:

AT MY HOME:
Host PC, Windows 7, Port Forwarding done, Wimax Internet (2MBps) with static IP, PC connected to the router over WiFi

AT OFFICE:
Client PC, Windows 10

When I try to connect, a connection is established (as indicated on the Host PC) but the internet connection on the Client PC gets disabled. Hence, the Host PC is not visible in the "Network" folder of the Client PC. As soon as I disconnect VPN, the internet connection on the Client PC is restored.

Where am I wrong? How do I access the shared folders on Host PC with Client PC in my office?

Solution
Double check the access rights on your Host PC and the shared folders at home. The Host PC needs to recognize and permit access by the office computer/user.

Also take a look at any firewall settings.

Who manages the office network and connections?

I would hope that there are some security measures in place to prevent such connections to office resources including shared folders.

Therefore, if VPN is needed for working at home etc. then the configuration for access, access rights would need to be coordinated with the office administrator.

Well, I myself manage all the network and connections. Please note that the Host PC is at my home, not in office. I simply want to access shared folders on my Home (Host) PC remotely.
